Rainy day and Portunus Sangionolentus (crab)

This morning was overcast and beautiful with misty clouds over Karbonkelberg. Rumour has it that there were dolphins...but I didn't see any.

Later on, I fulfilled my civic duties and did a beach patrol in the rain and I was completely soaked. This picture is from the beach patrols and it offers a different view of the bay for a change.

I also saw lots of dead crabs. This could be due to red tide, as there was warnings issued for the West Coast. However... I took a really nice close up pic of one of the crabs and tried to learn more about these creatures. I think it is the Portunus Sangionolentus or three-spot swimming crab. Any other inputs or ideas about the type of crab would be welcome. What is interesting, is that these crabs can become up to 20cm in length, making it a worthwhile adversary for my toes!
