"The year is dying in the night.” - Tennyson

This year, 2025 simply flew by... I feel like I have not yet settled into the year, and now it is over already! This has been a tough year for many people, and let's hope that 2026 will bring lots of joy and that there will be more moments to saviour.

I did not think this blog will make it to the end of this year. For nearly three years now, I've been posting photos and writing a few lines about the swims. Sometimes it feels like a chore, and a mission to remember to take a picture, then to make the time to write something. And yet here we are. I find it fascinating and rewarding to look back. Last year on the 31st of December 2025, the waves were massive and we didn't have a proper swim. This year, December has been amazing with lovely flat waters and very little wind.

I'll make a claim here (publicly) so that you can all hold me to it, but I have been thinking of creating a photo book like a coffee table book of the Swimriser blog.

Anyways, here is a picture of this morning - another absolutely gorgeous morning in Hout Bay.

Love the clouds!
